How To Apply Vinyl Graphics
Instructions for Vinyl Application
Applying the vinyl is easy to do here are some tips for making your application successful.
- Clean your wall or surface (decals go on OUTSIDE of car window.)
Be sure that the surface you are applying the decal to is: smooth, dry and free of dust and dirt. Decal can be applied to walls, wood, glass, concrete, metal or any smooth, dry surface. Decals are removable but may not be repositioned or reused.Do not apply to freshly painted walls! Wait a minimum of 2 weeks after painting.
- Prepare the Vinyl
Lay the decal on a flat surface, graphic side down. Press firmly over the entire decal with the edge of a credit card or similar object. You are re-activating the bond between the decal and the transfer tape.
- Plan your layout
Arrange your decal on your surface using masking tape (on the top edge only), do not remove the white backing until you are happy with your layout.
- Apply the decal
Flip the decal up. Starting from any corner, slowly peel the white backing away from the transfer tape, the vinyl decal should be sticking to the transfer tape. If some of the decal is sticking to the white backing, STOP... Rub the decal in that area that is sticking and slowly continue peeling until the white backing is completely removed. As you lower your decal against the surface carefully move your hand slowly across the decal, starting at the top center and working your way out to the edges and bottom of the decal. With your finger or credit card finish the application by rubbing over the entire graphic to remove any air bubbles. Once you have removed the air bubbles carefully remove the transfer tape making sure that the decal is sticking to your surface and not the transfer tape. ENJOY!
If applying to glass, metal, or fiberglass (not wood or walls) you can use a soapy solution to spray on to the place where you are working or directly to the vinyl. This allows you to re-position the vinyl. Once it is positioned where you want it, squeegee out all the excess water and air bubbles, wait a few and the begin slowly peeling off the transfer tape.
NOTE: There are several vinyl application demonstrations on u-tube that you might want to watch if this is your first application.
ENJOY!
